JC International Tartan
No-one is certain how tartan originated, but the wearing of colourful checked cloth was favoured by the Scots as long ago as the 16th century. Today, Scottish Clans, Scottish Regiments of British Army and many other organisations have their own tartan and wear it with pride. Thanks to the vision of S. Alan Murray (Senator #54002), Junior Chamber International is no exception and since 1994 we have had our very own JCI tartan.Junior Chamber International is a very large 'clan' - a group of people united by common aims and interests - with nearly 400,000 members worldwide. When a person is a member of a clan, they are eligible to wear the clan tartan. The JCI tartan is unique to our organisation, with members both PAST and PRESENT eligible to wear it as their own.To many of us Scots, tartan is emblematic of something heroic and indefinable and it is with great pride that Junior Chamber Aberdeen share this part of our Scottish heritage with our fellow Jaycees the world over.We invite you to browse the website and take a bit of Scottish heritage to your part of the world. |
